Family therapy is all about empowering family members to achieve their individual goals by subtly modifying and reshaping the family's
complex web of interpersonal dependencies. It can be delivered as either a sub-component of individual therapy or as a stand-alone
service. The "family" and its members can also be defined in whatever way makes the most sense to you.
For children or adolescents with individual mental health problems, family therapy can be used as a powerful supplement to
their one-on-one treatment. Family systems often have the ability to collectively take on a problem that an individual would
have been overwhelmed by on their own. Adult individuals with mental health problems benefit from family therapy for similar reasons.
